We know how a backpack may mean a lot to a person. Whether it is a gift or childhood memory, we care about what we own.
Get ready. I will show you how to clean your backpack without damaging the outer surface in 3-steps.
We understand that backpacks get dirty at some point. Grease marks, sweat, natural skin oil can absorb into the shoulder straps and hip-belt. You may put your backpack on the ground because you may be tired of carrying it.
These are just a few occasions to clean your backpack regularly.

Backpack Cleaning Checklist: Everything You’ll Need
A bag is a big investment, and it's one you need to care for. There are two ways to clean from my experience:
- Soft-Touch Cleaning
- Hard-Touch Cleaning
Don’t worry, we will cover both in this blog. You will need these essential supplies even if you do soft cleaning:
- Soft-bristled brush – to rub the backpack's outer surface with care – you may even use a toothbrush 🙂
- Clean sponge – to wipe the surface – an old towel also does the job
- A mild soap (only for hard cleaning) – no fragrance or any material that may harm the backpack’s outer material. You may use castile soap. It works well for backpack cleaning
Step 1: Prep for Cleaning – Empty Your Backpack & Wet Your Tools
Make sure you empty all pockets and compartments. We don’t want to harm your gear. And don’t worry—all of our backpacks are waterproof. As long as you close the zipper, your items will stay dry and protected. Still, it's best to avoid any unnecessary risk.
Please moisten the brush you bring with you. Once it’s wet, apply slight pressure onto the soap to pick up some cleaner. If you want to apply a soft cleaning style, you may not need soap at all.

Step 2: Gently Scrub Stained Areas with Light Brush Pressure
Now that you’ve done a good job so far, it's time to get into the real cleaning. Gently but firmly press the brush against the surface that’s dirty and begin scrubbing. Focus on stained areas to clean them thoroughly. Make sure you remove all the filth.
Once you've brushed every section, you're ready for the final step to bring your beloved backpack back to life.

Step 3: Wipe Away All Dirt for a Clean Finish
Congratulations, you've made it! We’ve done most of the work by now. Now it's time to wipe away all the dirt that was removed during brushing.
You can zip up all the pockets and use a shower head or gentle stream of water to rinse off any remaining residue.
As mentioned earlier, our backpacks are 100% waterproof, so there’s no need to worry about external water damage. Just make sure all zippers are fully closed before rinsing.

Conclusion: Keep Your Backpack Fresh and Clean
You can keep your backpack looking fresh with just a few simple tools and the easy steps mentioned above. Whether it holds memories or essential gear, your backpack deserves gentle but effective care. Regular cleaning not only keeps it looking great but also protects your investment. So go ahead and give your backpack the clean it deserves.
